When I was in high school, I had a teacher that was well-known for being an avid reader of the newspaper, and was extremely knowledgeable about current events. At the very beginning of the school year, he even asked my parents if their son liked to read the newspaper. Most of his students ended up liking to read the paper after they found out the teacher would give a weekly quiz about the articles in it. If a student didn’t read the newspaper, they probably didn’t do very well on the quiz. It was that simple! Answers like, “I don’t keep up with world events” wouldn’t have made either a delighted teacher or a happy student!
