I received an e-mail a few years ago from a Church Member whose words I found to be very stirring and thought-provoking. This person’s inspiring words show some excellent insight. Though this member has since died, these words will never be forgotten. Tonight, I am sharing one of her written paragraphs with you.
I have been going through the gospels again, I have always admired the disciples and apostles for the work they did in face of certain death. How they ended was nothing like how they started out! And isn’t this true for all of us in God’s church! As I read about their difficult journeys, I realize that WE are the historians of this age, this end-time period. We have to realize that this is why WE came into this world. We (I) can’t allow the distractions of this physical existence to get us off track. The job that God has given us, that of being historians of this end-time, should humble us and motivate us to pray more, study harder, and watch carefully. Imagine how it will be, when in the Kingdom, prophets and apostles come to us and ask, “What was it really like?”, just as we want to know the same from them! What a thought!
Some scriptures came to mind after reading this letter:
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6).
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart (Galatians 6:8-9).
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses (1 Timothy 6:12).
No matter what we face, we must “fight the good fight” (just like the apostle Paul), and have a godly zeal and commitment that lasts forever.
Please have a good Sabbath!
Sincerely, Your Brother in Christ,
