“The inconceivable has happened. Brexit. The British have decided to leave the European Union — against the advice of almost all experts, against all economic reason and against the desire of its European neighbors.” (Spiegel Online International)
Britain has voted to leave the European Union! Many Europeans are in shock. Stock markets lost very heavily around the world. The U.S. stock market (Dow Jones Industrials), fell over 600 points. Here are some further paragraphs written in Spiegel Online International about the British exit from the EU.
The result of the referendum is a shock — for Prime Minister David Cameron, for the majority of the political elite, for the business community and for Europe…
Brexit supporters exploited the dissatisfaction of many in Britain with the state of politics, and the vote is one that is not just against the EU but also against Cameron’s government. The prime minister understood the message and promptly announced on Friday that he would leave office by autumn. The campaign slogan that seemed to work best was, “Take back control.”
While many nations and its citizens didn’t expect Britain to leave the European Union, do you realize that Mr. Armstrong taught long ago that Britain would not be any part of a FINAL “European Union.” He understood prophecy! Here are a few excerpts taken from Mystery of the Ages which show exactly what Mr. Armstrong taught about Britain and a European Union, the final resurrection of the Holy Roman Empire – referred to Biblically as “the ten toes.” “And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile” (Daniel 2:42).
Mystery of The Ages (pages 78 and 79):
First, notice what is revealed in Isaiah 14. (This famous chapter begins with the time, shortly ahead of us now, when the Eternal God shall have intervened in this world’s affairs. The people of Israel — not necessarily or exclusively the Israelis or Judah — shall have been taken as captive slaves, and God shall intervene and bring them back to the original promised homeland.) “And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve, that thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! The Lord hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers. He who smote the people in wrath … he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth” (verses 3-6).
This is NOT speaking of the king of ancient Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar. The time is yet ahead of us — but shortly ahead. It is speaking of the modern successor of that ancient Nebuchadnezzar. It is speaking of the one who will be RULER of the soon-coming resurrected “Holy Roman Empire” — a sort of soon-coming “United States of Europe” — a union of 10 nations to rise up out of or following the Common Market of today (Rev. 17). Britain will NOT be in that empire soon to come.
This united Europe will conquer the House of Israel — if you know who Israel is today, and I do not mean Judah, known as the Israelis today. All that involves a number of other prophecies, which there is not room here to explain. (This is explained in our free book “The United States and Britain in Prophecy.”)
Brethren, time is drawing near for the return of Jesus Christ to this earth. Events can very well move along more quickly than we think. Don’t wait until tomorrow to prepare spiritually!
Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. (Luke 21:36)
Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; (Revelation 19:7 – RSV)
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches (Revelation 3:22)
Please have a wonderful Sabbath!
Your Brother in Christ,
