Dear Brethren,

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11, RSV).

I was talking to a man today who mentioned he had a client that seemingly was never positive about much of anything. Thankfully, not everyone is like that. Yesterday, I received a letter (e-mail), from a Church member who has been going through severe health trials. Yet, even with those trials, they always have something quite positive and uplifting to say. In fact, I wrote back stating, “I’ve never known an e-mail you’ve written that didn’t have a positive paragraph somewhere in it.” My wife and I are always inspired by the uplifting words this member writes.

Later, they wrote, “In studying and searching, I have found some references that fill me with joy. Zeph 3:17; Lam 3:22-23; Psalms 139:13-18. What treasures!” Yes, they are!

Zephaniah 3:17
17  The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Lamentations 3:22-23
22  Through the LORD’S mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.
23  They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Psalm 139:13-18…

13  For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
15  My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16  Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
17  How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
18  If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

Several years ago (in the late 90’s), there was an elderly widow in the Church who was also going through some very difficult trials. She came to me and asked if I would compile a list of scriptures that would be uplifting for her to read and study. I compiled the following list below and added Jeremiah 29:11 at later date. God has a tremendous future in store for us, and there’s real hope for all of mankind!

Please have a wonderful Sabbath, everyone!

Your Brother in Christ,

Gary Liebold
