March 17, 2023 Brethren Letter

Dear Brethren,

In just a little over two weeks, we will be keeping the Passover. The Passover service is a most meaningful and sobering service. We will be reflecting on the suffering and death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 11:23-29). Every single one of us was under the DEATH penalty for our sins. Christ was willing to pay that penalty for us through His shed blood. God the Father was also willing to actually send His Son to this earth in order to pay that death penalty for us with Christ’s ultimate sacrifice for humankind (John 3:16).

Brethren, I can honestly tell you (as a voice of experience), when the Passover and Days of Unleavened Bread approach, often, the number of personal tests and trials will increase. Let’s face it, Satan the Devil would love to discourage you enough through your trials that ultimately you would not take the Passover, or at the very least, take it “unworthily.” Satan would love to see us head back into the “world.” Sadly, some former Church members from the past have taken that path. The Passover no longer means that much to them.

When we were baptized, we PROMISED God that we would stay on the right path and follow Christ no matter what we faced (Matthew 6:33; Matthew 7:13-14; Luke 14:26-35). Granted, it’s not always an easy path, but it is a rewarding one in the end if we remain on it. We are actually promised the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33).

Since a number of you have recently experienced or are now experiencing various trials of your own leading up to the Passover, I thought tonight would be a good reminder of some of the important scriptures that are uplifting to read and study. Remember, we must keep our minds focused spiritually during ANY trial, and continue to think (through God’s Spirit), as Christ thinks . Here are some uplifting scriptures that are always good to read throughout the year, especially when facing trials.

Have a good Sabbath everyone. We look forward to being with you tomorrow for services.

Your Brother in Christ,

Gary Liebold
