October 23, 2015 Brethren Letter

Dear Brethren,

Luke 21:36 “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

These are some recent headlines in the news:

  • ISIS graduates its first class of junior jihadists in shocking photos
    (News.com.au)
  • Hurricane Patricia batters Mexico as one of strongest storms ever
    (Reuters)
  • Surge in anti-American hostility in Iran is setback for jailed US reporter
    (The Christian Science Monitor)
  • Fires and stun grenades at protest as students demand free education
    (Associated Press)
  • Populist, Pernicious and Perilous: Germany’s Growing Hate Problem
    (Spiegel Online International)

They are very serious headlines! I remember some Church members several years ago saying, “Everything continues to go on just as it always has year after year. Mr. Armstrong is dead now, and we’ve moved on from him.” Well, people have the right to move on from ANYTHING they want, but that still doesn’t change the words of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 13:8). It is Christ who told us to WATCH and PRAY! Mr. Armstrong’s death didn’t nullify a single scripture. The apostle Peter also foretold what scoffers would be saying in this end-time.

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation (II Peter 3:3-4).

Sadly, many people in God’s Church have fallen asleep and do NOT take Christ’s words very seriously (Matthew 24:48). Biblical prophecy is REAL, and God’s people are to be a discerning people, ATTENTIVE and FAITHFUL.

Hopefully, all of us are praying MORE and MORE as the weeks and months progress. We are to be watching, and praying to our Father in Heaven (I Thessalonians 5:17). Now is the time to strengthen our relationship with God, for our promised reward is GREAT!!!!

Please have wonderful Sabbath brethren!

Your Brother in Christ,

Gary Liebold
