September 11, 2020 Brethren Letter
Dear Brethren,
“Now, we have inscribed a new memory alongside those others. It’s a memory of tragedy and shock, of loss and mourning. But not only of loss and mourning. It’s also a memory of bravery and self-sacrifice, and the love that lays down its life for a friend―even a friend whose name it never knew.”
— George W. Bush
Nineteen years ago, on September 11, 2001 despicable acts of terrorism were perpetrated on the United States of America. Likely, most adults over the age of twenty-five today, can remember it very well. Almost three-thousand people died that day in New York City. Earlier today I was watching a program where a man was being interviewed whose father had died on September 11th. He was telling the host of the show how heroic his father had been that horrible day in 2001. After the World Trade Center Tower had been struck, his father intentionally remained in the Tower to help other people escape, when he could have saved himself instead. He put their lives ahead of his own.
Here’s part of this man’s story as shown by his son Rob…
The Story of Hold The Door For Others
“My dad lived his life putting others forward…
– Rob Fazio
Ronald C. Fazio, Sr.
On the fateful morning of September 11, 2001, Ronald C. Fazio, Sr. knew something was gravely wrong. Before he and his colleagues in the South Tower had details of the events happening right outside their windows, Ron sensed the urgency and encouraged his colleagues to evacuate the building, “He immediately told people to leave, to get out” his son, Rob, explains.
His family would later learn from his coworkers that Ron literally held the door open for them as they made their way to the stairs, convincing people along the way to leave. His wife, Janet, heard countless stories of his bravery, “He went back in, after he held the door for so many, he went back to the other side of the building to tell them to get out, too.”
It is comforting to know that Mr. Robert Fazio will be resurrected someday, to live once again. That is God’s plan!
28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth… (John 5:28-29)
We pray for the families of those who were victims of that vicious attack on September 11, 2001, and we must also pray for God’s KINGDOM to come to this earth! ONLY God’s Kingdom will solve the evils of this current world. “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10).
Please have a good night’s rest everyone.
Your Brother in Christ,
Gary Liebold
